Notre- Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo is the next french classic challenge.
I’m doing some research before starting the book so I can understand who is who in the list of characters.
Jotted down some notes….made some tea and a small plate of cookies….so let’s get started!

Wish I could see a little into the future, all this reading in French is going to catapult you into some great adventure I am sure! Be warned, there are fun and good times ahead

I have thet same feeling….I stop work on 01 May 2013 ( finally getting that “gold wristwatch”) and then let the next fase of my life begin. French, France and who knows…Vietnam could be in the stars!

Does this mean you are very busy up until 1 May? Sorry I didn’t see your response as it didn’t connect to my original comment, but I have noticed your absence and wondering how it’s all going in your world, I can imagine its mixed emotions, though I hope more of the euphoric kind

Transition periode is exhausting, people coming and going. Reading Hugo is a slow process b/c my mind often wanders off the prose! Reading short pieces in Le Monde just to keep me in the “french”mood. Longing for a new Spring and new fase in life!

I’ve not read this – not even in English! I’m impressed you are reading in French – mine is too rusty (or perhaps I’m just too lazy!). I’m also jealous of your appointment with freedom on 1st May!

This is a daunting read….16 pages and I’m just inching along. It takes days, weeks before I get into the new Victor Hugo vocabulary. Now I know how it feels when a foreign student must read Shakespeare. “Will I ever finish this book?”

Tea, cookies, and literature… does it get any better? Enjoy!
